French Car Brand Citroen To Enter The Nepalese Market

French auto major Groupe PSA is set to bring its Citroen brand to Nepal with the launch of the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV in 2021. Shangrila Motors Private Limited, the authorized distributor of Peugeot brand vehicles for Nepal, has also been appointed as the authorized distributor of Citroen brand vehicles for Nepal by Groupe PSA, France.The Citroen C5 Aircross SUV will be the first product for the Nepalese market. The C5 Aircross is based on Groupe PSA’s EMP2 platform. The SUV measures 4,500mm in length, 1,840mm in width, 1,670mm in height, and 2,730mm in wheelbase length. It has a ground clearance of 230mm. The Citroen C5 Aircross will likely be offered with a 2.0-litre diesel motor rated at 180 hp and mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.The French company will launch one model coming every year from 2021 onwards under the company's 'C Cubed' program with three Cs for Cool (referring to the design), Comfort (focus on the experience), and Clever (intelligent conception and high level of local integration). Expect a compact SUV, a hatchback, and a sedan in the future from the French manufacturer.The Citroen C5 Aircross was originally scheduled to be launched in the Indian market this year, however, the launch was postponed to early 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The C5 Aircross SUV will be brought to India via the Completely Knocked Down route, i.e., it will be assembled at the automaker's facility in Tamil Nadu.
